Artist Bio
My artistic journey began at age four, happily painting alongside my mother. This early joy
still shapes the peaceful satisfaction I find in the creative process. While I enjoy various media like pen and ink, pencil, and mixed media, I always return to my first love: painting.
Now that I have retired as a public school art educator, you can often find me out and about
with my backpack full of art materials as I continue to explore the natural world. My artwork highlights my journey as an earth-centered, responsible artist, with mixed media art created in a variety of sizes; almost 100% eco-friendly and produced to bring attention to our natural world and the risk of extinctions on many levels. Using only recycled paper, canvases, and wooden panels (birch cradleboard), repurposed found objects, eco-friendly Natural Earth Paints, glues, and varnishes, I hope to personally do no (artist) harm while creating a greener future.
About the Studio
My studio is located in a screen porch attached to the back of my home.
What to Expect
I will demonstrate creating journals and journal sketches using techniques from natural materials including hand made coffee and ash ink as well as earth-based watercolor paints.
