Bio

Linda Krause’s history as a park ranger informs her fiber work. She has been awarded a scholarship for a 2024 fabric art conference, Alegre Retreat. Her work has won two awards with the Gainesville Fine Arts Association where she has exhibited 12 times. She was juried into the Studio Art Quilt Associates exhibit and book, Perspectives. Linda was also chosen as an Artist in Residence for the Great Smoky Mountain National Park and awarded a scholarship to the Quilt Surface Design Symposium. She’s been represented at 11 local and regional venues (two solo exhibitions). She has completed three private commissions and taught fiber art classes many times. She’s active in the Gainesville art community.

Linda’s a native Floridian and University of Florida alumnus with an MS in Computer Science. After years in a software firm, she escaped to the natural world where she excelled at public engagement. Specialties were bird hikes, prescribed fire talks, alligator programs and coordinating a watershed volunteer program. During all of this art was expressing itself wherever it could. Finally, she embraced the pull of art as a career while incorporating the experiences which had shaped her.
