Artist Bio
Caren’s artworks feature an integration of fine art using watercolors, acrylic paints, pastels, textile arts, digital, mixed media and graphic design. Her artistic mission is to reveal the inherent beauty within nature and humanity. She pushes the boundaries of creativity to combine textures, media, and design techniques that otherwise would remain separate to achieve an emotional impact for the viewer. Caren’s artwork has been displayed in shows across the US, and she was selected from national pools of applicants to serve as artist-in-residence at two National Parks: Herbert Hoover National Historic Site and Necedah National Wildlife Refuge.
“A perfect day in my studio may look like this: an acrylic painting on my easel, a mural in-progress on my computer, a brochure project for a non-profit in the works, while a watercolor painting lays drying on the table.” "
About the Studio
"We are planning to open our entire home to tour guests because my work is hanging throughout the house.
My Happy Place- The ample one-room studio has enough storage and workspace for painting, textile projects, and digital arts. A large multi-purpose worktable accommodates works-in-progress and collaboration with students, clients, and fellow artists. An easel is positioned to receive north light from a full-length window overlooking our yard, where native plants attract birds, butterflies, and provide inspiration. My sweet greyhound, Natty acts as CMO (Chief Morale Officer) in the studio when she’s not showing off her speed racing in the backyard."
What to Expect
During the tour I will have work in progress on display. My recent concentrations have involved nature motifs with textured surfaces and cyanotypes used with watercolor and acrylic paint. I will have some pieces in progress that visitors can view. My studio always has an area for young artists to enjoy drawing and painting
